Mercury/Saturn is a very interesting planetary combination because it usually manifests so differently from the way it 'seems' it would.
It sounds like delayed communcation, lack of communication, lack of transportation, slowed transportation, etc. etc. All the ways you'd expect Saturn to work with Mercury, the communication and transporation planet.
And there are times when Mercury/Saturn does slow down a letter, but the usual meaning of Mercury/Saturn is travel. I think the rationale is that travel involves leavetaking (altho that certainly isn't always true).
Mercury/Saturn is all kinds of travel, vehicular as well as air travel.
Recently, Bill Warner, Who Set Speed Record on Motorcycle, died trying to set another record. I went into his chart looking for Mercury/Vulcanus because Vulcanus amplifies whatever it's near. What I found was a natal Mercury station and Vulcanus=Mercury/Saturn. The Mercury station emphasizes the Mercury activity (for him the vehicles) and also means that the Mercury/Saturn midpoint would move no more than a minute or two, no matter what time of day he was born.
So this motorcycle speed demon, who set a record for 300 mph had Vulcanus-Mercury/Saturn.
