More recently, former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbot was ousted in "an internal party battle".  Abbot's natal chart contains a T-square of Sun, Uranus and Chiron, with an orb of less than one degree.  At the time of the event, in September, 2015, transiting Uranus formed a semi-octile to the natal configuration.

When I first began to examine Uranus/Chiron, I had a pre-conceived notion and a fair amount of anecdotal evidence, that the combination would symbolize glitches in scientific or technical activity, but as the research progressed, I was struck by the incidence of unity or exclusion, particularly occurring at the time of transit or progression.  With this added perspective,  I returned to the data on technical  "glitches" and indeed, from the personal to the international, there was a high incidence of pushing others away or down or out. 

Abdul Nasser was born with Sun=Uranus/Chiron.  He inaugurated the successful "Voice of the Arabs" radio station when transiting Uranus was opposite his natal Chiron on July 4, 1953.   "There was an ongoing tension between its avowed raison d'etre as the forger of Arab unity and the squabbles it ignited (among Arabs) within the Middle East" (by) addressing Arab populations over the heads of their established rulers.  It was a weapon wielded by the Nasser regime, rather than a genuinely collective voice."    This became evident a few years later, when Nasser founded the United Arab Republic in May, 1958, a union between his native Egypt and Syria, while transiting Chiron was conjunct natal Uranus.  The governments of Lebanon and Iraq were overthrown shortly thereafter, with pro and anti-Nasser forces at the center of those coups.  Nasser dissolved Syria's political parties.  Syria responded with it's own coup d'etat and seceded from the UAR.

The domination, exclusion and elimination of others, with or without technology is, one of the themes of  Uranus/Chiron.  In October, 1998,  Microsoft was charged by the federal government with uncompetitive practices in the "browser war" was with Netscape.  During the trial, Bill Gates' evasiveness about such incriminating quotes as "We need to continue our jihad" evoked outright laughter from the judge.  Progressed Chiron was opposite his natal Uranus (1' orb).  The damaging "jihad" memo was written by a Microsoft executive on March 13, 1997, when transiting Chiron was square to Gates' natal Uranus and Chiron.  Also in the evidence was Gates' own memo "The Internet Tidal Wave".  "The Internet (sic) is destroying our position...The Internet is taking away our power...and in time will have eroded it irretrievably..."  Written in May 1995,  transiting Uranus was conjunct his natal Chiron. 

Microsoft was charged with violation of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act, whose principal author, Senator John Sherman, was born with natal Uranus square Chiron.

The Great Exhibition of 1851 was a major leap forward for manufacturing technology.   The  brainchild of Queen Victoria's husband,  Prince Albert, it was priced affordably and attended by rich and poor,  widening  national and world consciousness of wonders western mid-19th century manufacturing had made possible.   Britain "held the lead in almost every field where strength, durability and quality were concerned, whether in iron and steel, machinery or textiles".   Showcasing British superiority,  if not Albert's chief objective, was not far from his mind.   Albert was born with the natal picture, which was triggered off by transiting conjunction at the time of the event.

SCULLY/JOBS SPLIT get the story of their relationship split

 Steve Jobs had no natal aspect, although Mars and Saturn were at natal Uranus/Chiron midpoint (25' and 40' orb respectively).  When transiting Chiron was conjunct his natal Uranus in 1984, the Mac was introduced and, despite its ultimate importance in the industry, it sold poorly at the time and in part,  it's lack of success led to his resignation/firing on September 13, 1985.  Transiting Uranus and Chiron both stationed, in opposition to each other, forming a contact to the natal configuration of Mars and Saturn on the Uranus/Chiron midpoint.  

Less than 2 weeks later, with Uranus and Chiron still stationing in opposition, Jobs founded his new  company, the aptly named NeXT.  The company struggled.  Apple, purchased NeXT, marking Jobs return to his former company on December 20, 1996.  Apple too was struggling with dismal financial losses when Jobs regained the leadership.  Transiting Uranus was conjunct his natal Chiron.   Apple eventually recovered.

PIERRE JOSEPH PROUDON a brilliant student, would come home from the lycée to find his parents having bread and water for supper. He was able to continue his studies only by becoming a printer’s foreman and proofreader, and he absorbed all the material he handled. The knowledge he acquired in this fashion was extremely broad, but ill-organized. He was 29 before he passed the baccalaureate examination and received a scholarship from the Suard fund, awarded by the Académie de Besangon to poor, hard-working young men. Thanks to this scholarship, Proudhon was able to keep on with his studies and to begin to publish.
