Transiting Chiron=Poseidon= Voodoo? Well, sometimes..
Judges’ dilemma: Mom’s voodoo cure, baby’s safety, religious freedom?
The mother was catatonic and hadn’t eaten or slept in seven days — and neither had her 1½-year-old baby.
That was the call that came in to the state’s child-abuse hot line.
But after the 29-year-old mother was taken from her grandmother’s East Naples home and committed to the David Lawrence mental health center, relatives removed her before doctors recommended so that she could have “voodoo treatment.”
In the end, after a judge and lawyer questioned where the baby was — demanding proof she was healthy — she turned up safe and happy, being cared for by relatives in Miami.
Her brother later downplayed voodoo, saying they were Haitian and their pastor was praying day and night to remove the 13 devils inside Darlene Montreuil — leaving only one remaining as of last week.
